7 New Restaurants You Need to Try in Philadelphia Right Now

One of the best things about Philadelphia is that it has an incredible food scene that’s always growing. We all have our tried and true restaurants that we love to go to, but trying out new restaurants is always fun and a great way to get to know the city. Let’s take a look at 7 new restaurants that opened within the past few months in Philadelphia.

 

What makes it special: LMNO is the newest Stephen Starr restaurant in Philly and it opened in October 2021. It’s a Baja Mexican restaurant, lounge, book store, art gallery and more located in Fishtown. A 6000 sqft old warehouse has been turned into a vibrant space with delicious Mexican cuisine. “LMNO isn’t like anything else. It’s a dynamic space that, beyond a laid back, authentic dining experience, lends itself to live music, art exhibits, DJ sets, workshops, cooking classes, and anything collaborative” Starr said.

What makes it special: Good Luck Pizza Co. just opened permanently in February of 2022 after operating as a pop up in Washington Square West for awhile. They’re best known for their thick-crust pizza! They also have a variety of other Italian staple entrees and desserts plus great cocktails. This is part of Safran Turney's portfolio, which includes other favorites, like Bud & Marilyn's, Barbuzzo, Lolita and Little Nonna's.

What makes it special: Executive Chef Kevin Yanaga who some call Philly’s Sushi Whisperer opened up Izakaya by Yanaga in September of 2021. Located in the heart of Fishtown on Frankford Ave, this Japanese is known for their sushi, small plates and cocktails.

What makes it special: Victory Brewing opened a 14,000 square-foot taproom and brewery in Philadelphia's Logan Square in the fall of 2021. The 10,000 square foot space in Northern Liberties has two eateries: Figo Ristorante and Figo Pizzeria. The goal is to make you feel like you’ve just had a home cooked meal. 6. Middle Child Clubhouse

What makes it special: Middle Child Clubhouse opened in October of 2021 in Fishtown. The original Middle Child luncheonette is in Washington Square West. This a place you truly just want to hangout it because it has such a cool vibe. Plus they have a pool table dead center for exactly that. With a dining section, They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They’re known for their sandwiches, but they have added dinner entrees and cocktails that are to die for.

What makes it special: So this restaurant isn’t as new as the others, but it’s a must try. It opened in February 2020 and has already been named one of the best restaurants in the world. This Israeli shipudiya, or grill house, is famous for their Salatim. It’s a tray of small bowls of seasonal vegetables and hummus that is to die for. Located in Olde Kensington, this place has a fun vibe & delicious food. and there’s pretty much always a wait. Grab a reservation when you can!
